A new humanoid robot called Rumi is currently available for pre-order in China from a company called Luvbotics for between ¥6,499– ¥8,499 RMB, or roughly $1,000–$1,400 USD!
Rumi is about 65cm (25.6 inches / ~2 ft 1.6 in) tall and weighs 12kg (26.5 lbs). Rumi is shown displaying incredibly fluid movement in Luvbotics promotional videos. According to Luvbotics, Rumi is capable of running, jumping, and obstacle navigation which enables it to interact seamlessly with people in a way that is unlike anything we have seen previously in a robot. Rumi is as much at home outside as inside. With 21 degrees of freedom, soft warm skin, quiet movement, expressive eyes and touch feedback, Rumi can deliver lifelike interaction that is like something out of a sci-fi movie.
